Joanna Schneider is a fourth year medical student at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She is pursuing internal medicine residency, and has a particular interest in new models of health care delivery and finance. She is a passionate rock climber, and resides in Asheville, NC.

Greeshma Somashekar is a third year medical student at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Her interests include reproductive and mental health, political advocacy, and transformative models of care that center the experiences of marginalized communities. She also enjoys swimming, spending time outdoors, and writing new worlds into existence.

Anna Morenz is a fourth year medical student at Harvard Medical School. In her previous work as a foster care caseworker in the Bronx, she participated in Columbia University's program in narrative medicine for social workers. She is pursuing a career in primary care with an interest in addiction medicine and health policy. She loves writing poetry, rock climbing, and spending time in her native Arizona.

Daniella Lipnick is a second year medical student at the Penn State College of Medicine-University Park program. She has a master’s degree in Narrative Medicine and is interested in calling attention to patient, caregiver and health care provider stories as means of informing clinical practice. Other interests include geriatric and end-of-life care. In her free time, she enjoys playing ping pong and cooking.

Ira Sloan, MD, is the Course Co-Director of Ethics & Humanism at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Asheville Campus. He is a semiretired Psychiatrist, Licensed in NC. He is Emeritus Chairman, Department of Psychiatry and Clinical Professor, Evanston Hospital, for Northwestern University Medical School. Dr. Sloan earned his B.A and M.D.from University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana and Chicago.

Katharine R. Meacham, Ph.D., is the Course Co-Director of Ethics & Humanism at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Asheville Campus. She is a Professor Emerita in Philosophy from Mars Hill University, with academic degrees from Temple University (Ph.D. and M.A.), Harvard University (Ed.M.), and Eckerd College (B.A.)
Liz Gaufberg, MD, MPH

Dr. Elizabeth Gaufberg is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School (HMS). Liz finds the arts to be a powerful catalyst for medical trainees and faculty to reflect on experience, build relationships, grapple with ambiguity and integrate “soul with role”. She serves on the HMS Arts and Humanities Initiative Advisory Board, founded a CHA Literary Arts Journal and art gallery, and has established active collaborations with Boston area art museums. She is married to Slava, an emergency physician, residency director and musician, and together they are raising 4 daughters.
